On behalf of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) we take great pleasure to invite you to New Delhi, India, for the IABSE Symposium on the main theme “The Changing Skyline and Underground Structures” on April 14th (Wednesday) to April 16th (Friday), 2021. The IABSE Symposium New Delhi 2021 is organised by the Indian Group of IABSE and the Symposium will take place at the India Habitat Centre and the Inaugural function at The Ashok Hotel, New Delhi.

The main goal of the Symposium is to create a forum for the debate on the development of bridge and structural engineering as part of worldwide culture, and on current challenges in this area. The Symposium shall focus on significant issues, like Multi-Disciplinary Planning and Integration – (urban planner, architect, structural engineer and MEP); Planning and Preservation of Culture & Heritage; Tall Buildings; Elevated Transportation Structures; Green Buildings, Environmental & Sustainability Issues under The Changing Skyline and Planning, alignment and integration of transportation networks and infrastructure; Geo-technical, Geo-physical Investigation & Soil Structure interaction; Design and Construction (Roads, Metros); Transportation in the Digital Age; Operation and Maintenance; Asset Management and Monitoring; and Environmental and Sustainability issues under Underground Structure. The Symposium shall also focus on significant case studies related to the theme.

We invite the world’s Structural Engineering community to share their experiences with their colleagues and friends and have unique open discussions and Forums on what the future holds for engineering tomorrow’s structures. Consultants, Planners, Contractors, Owners, Architects, Associated Experts, Researchers and Practitioners will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on planning, structural design, construction and maintenance issues, as well as ideas for future growth and sustainability.

We hope that this IABSE Symposium New Delhi 2021 will be an important international meeting of scientists, experts, designers, contractors and all those who are interested in problems of different types of urban structures above and below the ground.

Technical visits to interesting projects and to research facilities, guided by local engineers, are planned during the Symposium, and are open for accompanying persons. More detailed information will be available in the Final Invitation and at the Symposium website www.iabse.org/NewDelhi2021.
