Objective and Scope


The main goal of the Symposium is the creation of a forum for the debate on the development of bridge and structural engineering as part of worldwide culture, and on current challenges in this area. The Symposium shall be focusing on significant issues, such as Civil Engineering Structures as Monuments of Culture and Technical Development; Condition Assessment of Contemporary and Historical Structures; Conservation, Upgrading and Management of Contemporary and Historical Structures as well as the Future of Civil Engineering Structures.

The main idea of this symposium is the international exchange of experiences and dissemination of specialist knowledge and information in various fields of structural engineering amongst scientists, experts, designers, contractors and all those interested in challenges regarding bridges and other civil engineering structures. The main attention will be paid to synergy of civil engineering and culture under historical aspects as well as to the challenges ahead of us.

Technical visits to interesting projects and to research facilities, guided by local engineers, are planned during the Symposium, and are open for accompanying persons.
