A new era of IABSE Conferences has started. With Geneva 2015, to be held from September 23-25, 2015, IABSE will introduce its new style conference with novel approaches for knowledge sharing and a maximum of interaction between participants.

The online platform for the interactive creation of conference content organised around global themes and topics is now live: , and the initial phase of collecting contributions has started.

Practicing engineers, architects, researchers, owners, contractors and indeed all those involved in developing or studying the built environment are invited to propose online topics for dedicated sessions until October 15, 2014.

The IABSE Geneva Conference will showcase the significant impact that Structural Engineers have on our society today. Being chiefly responsible for the built environment, Structural Engineering is a central solution provider with interfaces to many other disciplines and dominant in its role and responsibility. Building upon the technical expertise and authority of IABSE as the prime international organisation of Structural Engineers, the IABSE conference Geneva 2015 will explore the contributions that Structural Engineering can make to solving major problems of today and the future.

Global Themes

1. Climate Change and the Energy Challenge
2. Global Engineering Challenges
3. Breakthrough Technologies
4. Urbanisation and Growth

For each global theme an introductory session will be held followed by technical sessions, debates and workshops to study engineering solutions and identify next steps for research, development and implementation in a stimulating and interactive environment. It is envisaged to bring together different stakeholders to initiate knowledge exchange and a lively debate about these critical issues of our society today. The technical/scientific sessions within each Global Theme allow in-depth technical papers to be presented, where the emphasis in the selection process will be technical quality and on the contributors' ability to put their work into the context of the theme.
