Report on ENECE-2021 (Oct. 19-21)

 

Once again, in a different format (on-line, free and with three days duration) - ENECE – National Meeting of Engineering and Structural Consulting (Encontro Nacional de Engenharia e Consultoria Estrutural ) has consolidated its success by congregating a great number of engineers in October 19th – 21st, 2021 based on the theme: “The present challenges in the structural engineering” and had speeches given by national and international experts about relevant themes in the area.

Joseph G. Burns, with more than 40 years of experience with remarkable projects of skyscrapers in Chicago and in Saudi Arabia, was invited to talk about tall buildings structures in this event. The wrap up of the first day was market by a different festivity (on-line and live) to award prizes to the winners of the 18th Structural Engineering Talent, a contest promoted in association with Gerdau with the purpose to identify and valuate those structural engineering professionals who have developed differentiated and quality projects. Winners were (Click Here). 

Mounir Khalil El Debs, from EESC/USP, Senior Professor, gave a talk on the second day on the topic of concrete bridges, with emphasis in the precast element application. Which was followed by a talk by Flavio Gaiga, responsible for more than 800 contracts in structural analysis, design, detailing and consulting. The challenges and opportunities of the steel structures, hybrid and a combination of steel and concrete bridges were detailed in his talk. At the end, the winners of the 3rd Contest of CBCA for Engineering Students were announced. The contest was supported by ABECE. The winners and their works can be found here. “The constructions life” was the theme of the opening speech on the last day of the event, by Prof. Fernando Branco, who has already presided over important Portuguese and international associations (including IABSE), and has been an advisor for important works, such as the São João Bridge (Portugal), International Bridge of Guadiana (Spain), Macau-Taipa Bridge (China), Vasco da Gama Bridge and Lezina Bridge (both in Portugal), and besides all these projects, he is the winner of several international awardss.

 

The panel “BIM in the practice: architecture projects,  installations and structures fully accountable from the pre-executive to the work liberation” had the participation of Luiz Aurélio Fortes da Silva (Vice-President of Contacts of ABECE and director of SIS Engenharia), Bruno Franzmann (Professor of University of Blumenau and managing partner of Franzmann Engenharia e Consultoria), Marcelo Mannich (Owner and partner of Mannz Arquitetos Associados) and Emerson Pompeo (Director of Engineering of Embraed Empreendimentos), under the chairmanship of Engineer Leonardo Passos, Director of Contacts of ABECE.

 

To wrap up the program, the following engineers have been honored with the title of ABECE Honorary Associate: Hélio Pereira Chumbinho and José Júlio Tavares, for their contribution with relevant services rendered to the Brazilian Engineering for more than 40 years. More details (Click Here). The engineers Carlos Alberto Fragelli and Carlos Freire Machado were awarded with the title of 2021 Structural Engineering Personality, in recognition of their dedication to the Engineering profession and to the improvement of the Brazilian Structural Engineering. XII CBPE Event

7-11 June, 2021

 

The XII Brazilian Conference on Bridges and Structures (XII CBPE), Virtual

About 200 engineers were online between 7 and 11 of June 2021, and attended the XII Brazilian Conference on Bridges and Structures (X CBPE), promoted by the ABPE (Brazilian Association of Bridges and Structures – Brazilian Group of IABSE) and the ABECE (Brazilian Association of Consulting Engineers). In the five days of the Conference, 15 main lectures were given by major Brazilian and foreign specialists in the construction and design of bridges and other structures. Among other interesting presentations, special lectures were given by eminent specialists, for instance from Portugal (Antônio Adão da Fonseca, João Pedro Lopes, José Campos Matos, Luís de Oliveira Santos e Diogo Rodrigo Ribeiro), Germany (Michael Müller), Chile (Matias Andres Valenzuela) and from Italy (Mario de Miranda). In parallel with the main lectures, 131 technical papers were presented, by Brazilian specialists and researchers. The main objective of the event was attained, of presenting to the Brazilian engineers the more recent progresses in the Civil Engineering technology, as well as the great civil works that are currently being executed in Brazil. The next CBPE is foreseen to occur in 2022, in São Paulo.

 

 


2020

The Second Symposium in Bridges and Structures in Brazilian Northeast 

On 3 December 2020, more than 800 students and engineers, from 25 of the 27 Brazilian States, participated online, in the Second Symposium of Bridges and Structural Engineering in Brazilian Northeast (II Seminário de Pontes e Estruturas do Nordeste do Brasil), which was promoted by ABPE (Brazilian Association of Bridges and Structures – Brazilian Group of IABSE). In a afternoon-night conference, five lectures were given by Brazilian specialists in the design and maintenance of bridges and other structures. The main objective of the event was attained, which was to present to the Brazilian students and engineers, the recent progresses in the field of Structural and Civil Engineering technology.


May 13-15, XII National Conference on Bridges and Structures

(XII Congresso Nacional de Pontes e Estruturas) – to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Hotel Pestana, May 2020, 13th to 15th. Expected attendees: 300, 20 Main Conferences, 100 technical papers to be presented.
