Lighthouse, Denmark Project Description: In a departure from Denmark’s traditional heritage of precast concrete, the building adopted a more modern approach to high rise construction with hybrid solutions mixing in-situ reinforced and post tensioned concrete construction and precast columns, resulting in a shorter building time and lighter superstructure.Judges Comments This impressive tall building stands on the shore where sea meets city and is the tallest residential building in Denmark. Very strict energy consumption requirements and a strong focus on green issues to minimise concrete and other quantities has resulted in an efficient and sustainable solution with a low carbon footprint. The structure adopts hybrid solutions of in-situ reinforced and post-tensioned concrete construction, with precast columns, for maximum efficiency and economy.
