It is my great pleasure to warmly invite you to the IABSE Symposium 2027 in Guwahati, India, to be held from 22–24 April 2027 at the Mayfair Spring Valley Resort, Guwahati. This symposium is organised by the Indian National Group of IABSE (ING-IABSE) and will bring together leading Engineers, Researchers, Practitioners, and policy makers from across the world to exchange knowledge and experiences in structural engineering.

The Symposium theme, “Structural Failures – Causes, Investigation, Resilience, Mitigation & Standardisation,” addresses one of the most important challenges facing our profession today. Understanding the causes of failures, developing advanced investigation methodologies, strengthening resilience in structural systems, and improving mitigation strategies and standards are critical to ensuring the safety and sustainability of our infrastructure.

Through plenary lectures, keynote sessions, technical discussions, and case studies, the symposium will provide a valuable platform for sharing lessons learned from structural failures and exploring innovative approaches for safer and more resilient infrastructure systems. The event will also include technical sessions, exhibitions, and activities for young engineers, encouraging the next generation of structural engineers to engage with global experts and contribute to the advancement of the profession.

The host city Guwahati, located on the banks of the majestic Brahmaputra River, is known as the gateway to Northeast India. With its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and growing infrastructure development, it offers an inspiring setting for international collaboration and professional exchange.
