Dear Colleagues,

We, at IABSE and the National Group of Korea, are pleased to extend a warm invitation to you for the International IABSE Congress 2026 in Incheon, South Korea, from 16th to 18th September, 2026. The theme of the International

Congress is "Structural Engineering: Towards Evolution and Hyper-Expansion."

This prestigious event will bring together leading experts, innovators, practitioners, and thought leaders from around the globe to share knowledge, explore cutting-edge technologies, and collaborate on solutions that are shaping the future for the betterment of the profession and humanity worldwide.


The ever-increasing urbanisation, climate change, rapid depletion of resources, and their impact on the built environment require Structural Engineers to respond with new tools that are constantly evolving to help plan for and mitigate the challenges arising from this continuously evolving situation. The various digital tools and technologies at the disposal of structural engineers, along with Artificial Intelligence, are already demonstrating great promise in addressing the above challenges and issues. The profession needs to continuously evolve in keeping with modern developments and tools. The Congress will be an excellent opportunity to expand your network, exchange ideas, and gain insights into the latest trends in technology, which will be enriched by Keynote Speakers with renowned global experts.

Incheon is not only a dynamic hub of technology and innovation, but it also boasts stunning local attractions that make it an ideal location for both business and leisure, viz. Songdo International Business District: A state-of-the-art city with modern skyscrapers, smart technology, and stunning architecture, Incheon Grand Park, Chinatown, Incheon Bridge, Wolmido Island, Incheon’s Coastal Walks etc. IABSE returns to Korea, with yet another interesting Congress, following the grand success of the last conference, which took place in Seoul in November 2020.

The Korean Group of IABSE is honored to host the IABSE Congress 2026 in Incheon, South Korea, from September 16 to 18, 2026. Under the theme ‘Structural Engineering Towards Evolution and Hyper-Expansion,’ the Congress will serve as a premier platform for exploring innovative advancements and addressing challenges that will shape the future of structural engineering.

Today’s cities are rapidly evolving beyond their traditional role as industrial and commercial hubs. They must continuously adapt to new societal demands and integrate cutting-edge technologies to enhance infrastructure.

In this transformation, structural engineering professionals play a key role in driving innovation in infrastructure systems and leading the development of a sustainable built environment. IABSE Congress Incheon 2026 will provide an opportunity to discuss how digital technologies and sustainable development can be integrated into the evolution and hyper-expansion of modern infrastructure systems.

Incheon (Songdo) is a dynamic city with world-class infrastructure, including Incheon International Airport and Free Economic Zones, positioning it as a central hub of evolution and hyper-innovation. This makes it an ideal venue for hosting the IABSE Congress Incheon 2026, where forward-looking discussions on the future of structural engineering will take place.

This Congress will bring together experts, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to share insights, present the latest advancements in urban infrastructure, and foster international collaboration. Through keynote lectures and technical sessions, we will collectively explore the future directions of structural engineering.
