Judges Comments
This 22km long sea bridge connects Sewri in Mumbai with Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai. It comprises a prestressed concrete viaduct structure, and steel orthotropic girders for the longer spans up to 180m. Considerable focus has been given to corrosion protection and durability issues owing to the aggressive marine environment, and special measures have been used during construction and in service to protect sensitive flamingo habitats on both sides.
