Seminar "Wind Guidelines"
Recognizing the importance of appropriate construction standards for the prevention of natural disasters, the Costa Rican IABSE Group chaired by Eng. Daniel Ureña, organized the past July 13, 2022 the Seminar “Wind Guidelines”.
During the activity, engineers from around Latin America had the opportunity to be update with the new construction regulations for winds and from there reduce vulnerability to disaster susceptibility. The new Guideline was presented by Eng. Guevara, Eng. Miranda, and Eng. Poveda from Costa Rica.
The Seminar was held in a hybrid way, where about 70 engineers participated online and 40 were in-person at Hotel Intercontinental in San Jose. The event was held in spanish and was the first presential activity after two years of the pandemic.
Steel Day Latin America 2022
During October’s last week, there was several celebrations around the American continent of the Structural Steel Industry: Steel Day 2022.
This activity is the annual celebration of the structural steel industry, promoted by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and hosted by its members and partners. Steel Day is an opportunity for steel fabricators to connect with professionals, and get updated with all the new features and techniques of the industry.
The Costa Rican IABSE Group and the Costa Rican Association of Structural and Seismic Engineering (ACIES) was the host of the Steel Day Latin America. On October 21th, more than 150 Latin-American professionals (Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, USA, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panama) in structural engineering got updated professionally in steel topics. Recognized keynote speakers from United States, Ecuador, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, and Costa Rica was part of the main program during this celebration.
