Program: 

I. Presentation of research papers or project reports

Young engineers can present research papers on any topic in structural engineering including PhD and MS studies. They can also present construction projects of any kind of structures. The presentation will be made aurally.

II. Bridge Design Competition:

Young engineers will design a footbridge in the specified location. The design sites and the related information are provided in separate documents. The international experts from the IABSE National Groups will evaluate the submitted designs.

III. Social Activities

Collaboration and Meetups

On 25 March 2024, IABSE Group of Hong Kong, S.A.R., China, chaired by Naeem Hussain organised a meeting with Jin-Guang Teng, who is the President of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Poly U), and his fellow professors to discuss IABSE and its activities in the NG and a possible Young Engineers Colloquium. During this meeting, Eugene Brühwiler from Switzerland was also present, and has also been a co-organiser for the Young Engineers Symposium (YES) in Switzerland in the last decade, he was on a lecture visit to Poly U, and took this opportunity to meet the NG in Hong Kong. Those who were present from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University at this meeting included Kaiming Bi, Xiao Lin Zhao, Ahmed Elghazouli, Siwei Liu, Yong Xia, and Songye Zhu. IABSE connects structural engineers from practice and academia worldwide.

Young Engineers Colloquium in East Asia

Young engineers in any country can make presentations and participate in the design competition. Young engineers and senior engineers are welcome to participate.
