IABSE Serbian NG – Site visit report
On 17 October 2026, the Serbian NG, together with the Association of Structural Engineers of Serbia (DGKS / ASES – collective member of IABSE), organized the technical site visit to Kragujevac North Bypass, with 22 participants from 9 companies. Kragujevac North Bypass is a new dual-carriageway, 22-kilometers-long highway currently under construction in Serbia, consisting of 13 bridges and 5 overpasses. The visit began with two introductory presentations providing insights into the construction and design aspects. Dušan Spasojević, from the contractor Intergradnja COOP (IGC), presented the project from a construction perspective, followed by Mirko Vojinović, representing the design company DB Inženjering, who highlighted the main design considerations. It was then proceeded to the construction site, where in focus were six largest bridges, with a total length exceeding 1845 m, which are seismically isolated using low-damping elastomeric bearings. Also, the casting yard for precast posttensioned beams was visited.
The next activity of the Serbian NG is planned for spring 2027, with a technical site visit to the New Sava Bridge (a steel 170-meter arch bridge) in Belgrade downtown currently under construction.
