Project Description:

The entire school gate structure is made of plain concrete irregular shell without any architectural decoration. The large-span arch shell is achieved through the combination of concrete shell, cover plate, and partition to achieve a lightweight and elegant architectural effect of spreading wings and wanting to fly.This distinctive gateway structure marks the entrance to the main campus of the Civil Aviation University of China. The concrete shell structure spans 40m and has a W-shaped cross section, with shell thicknesses from 160mm to 120mm. The structure was cast in-situ, and the complex doubly curved surfaces have a very smooth finish that emphasises the purity of the sculptural form.
