Project Description:

This project uses a strip shaped cabin outside the core cylinder to overlap layer by layer, accommodating reading space. The cloud reading hall creates a large space without columns. Form a dynamic, shared, interactive and open spatial organization goal, and echo the overall design in form, shaping the new era of campus landmarks.

Judges Comments

This library building is the centrepiece of the first phase for a new university campus. The large multi-vaulted roof is a single-layer gridshell with T-shaped components, and careful selection of details has resulted in a very efficient structural system. The arrangement of the structural grid achieves large column-free spaces within the building, with shear wall cores carefully positioned to provide the necessary lateral stability.
