Judges Comments

This slender and elegant network arch bridge with a 250m span crosses the Ohio River. The entire span was assembled off-site and lifted into place off floating barges using 8 sets of mega-jack towers in the largest bridge float-in project ever performed in North America. The arch ribs and tie-chords are steel box sections, and the girder system comprises a concrete deck, post-tensioned in both directions to control tensile stresses, acting compositely with seven main longitudinal steel girders.
