Project Description:

The OA953 wildlife overpass demonstrates an integrated approach to infrastructure design where structural engineering, landscape architecture and ecological planning are combined into a single coherent solution. Key innovative aspects include structural efficiency of a 41.5 m arch span, seamless landscape integration within an existing motorway cutting, ecological restoration reconnecting Natura 2000 habitats and construction strategies enabling works under heavy motorway traffic. The project illustrates how modern infrastructure can simultaneously improve mobility and restore ecological connectivity.

The OA953 wildlife overpass restores ecological connectivity across the A3 motorway, part of the European E25 corridor in Luxembourg. A monolithic reinforced concrete arch spanning 41.5 metres supports a landscaped wildlife corridor reconnecting Natura 2000 habitats, while maintaining motorway traffic during construction, demonstrating integration of structural efficiency and environmental stewardship.
