Task Group 2.7
Moving Bridges – Design, Construction, Maintenance and Operation Mission Statement/Objectives Moving Bridges are specialist structures that require careful collaborative design between engineering disciplines, and a deep understanding of future maintenance and operation requirements. The IABSE British Group Henderson Colloquium 2024 identified a lack of published expert guidance on how to manage the process of outlining a design program, designing, operating and maintaining moving structures, with expert knowledge residing in national or discipline silos. This task group aims to produce a guidance document reflecting current expert knowledge (SED) on moving bridges.
All moving bridges (pedestrian, highway, rail), all materials, and all mechanisms globally. Excludes cranes, lock gates or other moving civil infrastructure.
