Glimpses from the IABSE Awards and Gala Dinner night

17 November 2022: The doors opened to Volkshaus Theatre at 17:00 pm to welcome guests from all corners of the world. As the guest continued to arrive, the Foyer was filling up, wine glasses clicked, and chatting got louder... what a festive atmosphere! It was an amazing moment to see friends and familiar faces happy to meet again after three years of online conferences and meetings! Participants enjoyed their Selfies and group photos at the Media Wall to capture and record memorable moments with friends and project teams on this special occasion.

Emcee Mirjam Jaeger started the event at 6:00 pm by calling the former President, Prof. Yaojun Ge, for his Opening Speech. She also invited the current President, Dr. Tina Vejrum, and Executive Director, Chep Uytiepo, for a few words of inspiration.

The event started with the 'IABSE People and Paper Awards' followed by a short break for a relaxing dinner and then proceeded to the IABSE Awards for Projects and Technology.

The People and Paper Awards winners were known before the event and were called on stage to receive their Certificates from IABSE President. For the Project and Technology Awards, the emcee announced the presentation of Shortlisted projects in each category, the video presentation played, and the representatives for every project marched up the stage to receive their Shortlisted Certificates from IABSE President. Finally, the jury chair Naeem Hussain handed the envelope to the emcee to announce the winning project! The winners received the specially designed IABSE Trophy and Certificate and were also given a chance to have a short speech to thank and celebrate their win on stage. This event is not only a landmark in IABSE's 93 years of history, but it is also the beginning for Structural Engineers to be recognized by the world as one of the people responsible for building the built environment they live in. Once again, IABSE congratulates all shortlisted projects and winners for their high achievements and for winning the prize.
