The XV Brazilian Conference on Bridges and Structures (XV CBPE) in Rio de Janeiro

About 280 engineers were present in Millenium Room, São Paulo, between 16 and 17 of May, for attending the XV Brazilian Conference on Bridges and Structures (XV CBPE), promoted by ABPE (Brazilian Association of Bridges and Structures – Brazilian Group of IABSE) and ABECE (Brazilian Association of Consulting Engineers).

In the two days of the Conference, 14 main lectures were given by major Brazilian and foreign specialists in the construction and design of bridges and other structures. Among other interesting presentations, special lectures were given by eminent specialists, for instance from Chile (Engineer Matias Valenzuela Saavedra), Portugal (Engineer Pedro Cabral) and from Ecuador (Engineer Eva Lantsoght).  The highlights were the international presence of experts from Ecuador, Chile, Colombia and Portugal, who addressed topics such as assessment tools for existing concrete bridges, bridge monitoring (SHMS application), optimization modeling of cable-stayed bridges and replacement of the tie-rod system of the Edgar Cardoso Bridge, in Figueira da Foz (Portugal). At the end of each day, speakers answered questions from participants live.

At the opening of the event, on the morning of May 16, the presidents of ABECE, engineer Luiz Aurélio Fortes da Silva, and of ABPE, engineer Sergio Hampshire, were present, along with the secretary of Urban Infrastructure and Public Works of the City Hall of São Paulo, engineer Marcos Monteiro, the executive president of ABCIC (Brazilian Association of Industrialized Concrete Construction) and vice president of FIB – International Federation for Structural Concrete, engineer Iria Doniak, the CEO of Ibracon, engineer Júlio Timerman, and the Marketing Manager of Gerdau Construção Civil, engineer Rosane Bevilaqua, also representing CBCA (Brazilian Center for Steel Construction).

In parallel with the main lectures, in other room stands displaying the products of the CBPE sponsors could be visited.

In all the two days of the Conference, the rooms were full of very interested participants. The main objective of the event was attained and that was to present to the Brazilian engineers the recent progresses in the Civil Engineering technology, as well as the great civil works presently in execution in Brazil and abroad. The next CBPE is foreseen to occur in 2025, in Rio de Janeiro.

The fifteenth edition of the largest national event in the area of bridges and structures, the CBPE – Brazilian Congress of Bridges and Structures, brought together, on May 16 and 17, 2024, at the Milenium Convention Center, in São Paulo (SP), approximately 280 participants.

Promoted by ABECE and ABPE (Brazilian Association of Bridges and Structures), the Congress, which aims to publicize recent achievements and new techniques used in large structures (such as bridges and viaducts), brought together great national and international exponents to present recurring and current themes.

The 15th Brazilian Congress of Bridges and Structures was sponsored by Gerdau (platinum), CBCA – Brazilian Center for Construction and Steel, Maurer, MC-Bauchemie, Midas, Multiplus, Orguel and Uniontech Joint Technology (gold) and ABCIC – Brazilian Association of Industrialized Concrete Construction, ATEX, JAAPE, Mageba, Saint-Gobain Quartzolit, Teixeira Duarte and TQS Informática (silver), in addition to the support of the project offices Andrade Rezende Project Engineering, Beta 2 Engineering, Casagrande Engineering & Consulting, Carmona Engineering Solutions, Dancal, EGT Engineering, Forconsult, Pedreira Onix, R. Peotta, Pi Engineering and Vendramini Engineering.

The III South Brazilian Conference on Bridges and Structures (III SSBPE) in Porto Alegre

 

About 200 engineers and students were present at the Catholic University of Porto Alegre (PUCRS), Rio Grande do Sul state, on 10 November 2023, to attend the III South Brazilian Conference on Bridges and Structures (III SSBPE) promoted by ABPE (Brazilian Association of Bridges and Structures – Brazilian Group of IABSE). At the Conference, 10 main lectures were given by major Brazilian specialists in the construction and design of bridges and other structures. In parallel with the main lectures, 21 technical papers were presented, by Brazilian specialists and researchers. In another room, stands displaying the products of the III SSBPE sponsors could be visited. At the Conference, all the rooms were full of very interested, happy and participating people. The main objective of the event was to present to the engineers of the Brazilian South the more recent progress in civil engineering technology, as well as the great civil works presently being executed in Brazil.

XIV Brazilian Conference on Bridges and Structures (XIV CBPE) in Rio de Janeiro (Click Here)

   

From 10 – 12 May, more than 400 engineers participated in the XIV Brazilian Conference on Bridges and Structures (XIV CBPE) which took place in Pestana Hotel, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, which was promoted by the ABPE (Brazilian Association of Bridges and Structures – Brazilian Group of IABSE, chaired by Sergio Hampshire) and ABECE (Brazilian Association of Consulting Engineers). In the three days of the Conference, 20 main lectures were given by major Brazilian and foreign specialists in the construction and design of bridges and other structures. Among other interesting presentations, special lectures were given by eminent specialists, for instance, from Germany (Engineer Michael Mueller), Portugal (Engineers Laura Esteves and Humberto Varum), Spain (Engineer Jose Maria Lorenzo Romero) and from Italy (Engineer Mario de Miranda). In parallel with the main lectures, about 100 technical papers were presented by Brazilian specialists and researchers. In another room, stands displaying the products of the CBPE sponsors could be visited. On all three days of the Conference, all the rooms were full of very interested participants. The event’s main objective was to present to the Brazilian engineers the more recent progress in Civil Engineering technology and the great civil works presently in execution in Brazil and abroad. The next CBPE is foreseen to occur in 2024 in São Paulo.
