All participants born in or after 1992 will benefit from a reduction in their registration fee. Young engineers, who personally present their papers at the conference, will be considered for a best young engineers paper award. The award is sponsored by the IABSE Organising Committee. The award consists of a cash prize and a certificate that will be presented during the closing ceremony.
Young Engineer’s Activities
| Young Engineer’s Session: Pecha Kucha Presentations All Young Engineers (under 35) who have submitted papers will be invited by the Scientific Committee (SC) to prepare an additional six-slide presentation summarizing their work. Each slide will be shown for 20 seconds before automatically moving on to the next – the Master of Ceremony will help to chair announce time to move between presenters. The format is fast-paced and visually driven, with minimal text on slides to force presenters to be concise and focused, encouraging them to tell a story with images rather than read from a script. This fast-paced overview of all YE topics will spark the conversations at the following social event. Timing: Each presentation will last 2 minutes (6 slides x 20 sec), followed immediately by the next presenter. Networking Walk & Social Gathering Free for symposium participants Route: Following the presentations, participants are invited for a walk (approx. 45–60 minutes) along the canal from the Tivoli Congress Center to the Kissing Bridge, to continue networking in a relaxed outdoor setting. The YE committee will prepare fun and interesting facts about the bridges and structures we see and pass. Depending on the number of attendees, we’ll split into smaller groups. Please note that registration for this event is required. Free for symposium participants. More experienced Engineers are also welcome to join both Young Engineer’s activities. |

Between Copenhagen and the new Femern connection between Denmark and Germany, the railway crosses Storstrømmen. Due to aging and fatigue issues on the existing Storstrøm Bridge, it was decided to construct a new bridge featuring two high-speed rail tracks, a two-lane local road, and a combined pedestrian and cycle path. The total length of the new bridge is approximately 4,000 meters. The existing bridge will be demolished, and we will receive an overview of how this process will be carried out. The new Storstrøm Bridge is a 4 km sea crossing designed to accommodate both rail and road traffic on a combined deck. It is planned to open for road traffic in 2026, while installation of the catenary system for the rail line will still be underway.
