Project Description:

Pre-stressed UHPFRC footbridge spanning 24.60m over the Venoge river. Red UHPFRC, colored in the mass. Variableheight U-section for crossing the river while respecting the hydraulic gauge. lntegral structure, without expansion joint or structural bearings.

Judges Comments

This bridge replaces a historic timber footbridge which has stood at this site since 1865. The new structure is in Ultra-High-Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) with a variable depth U-shaped cross section. The structure is integral with the abutments and is post-tensioned longitudinally with 4 tendons in each of the four corners of the cross section. Pigmented concrete is used, and the entire pre-cast structure was installed in a single operation using a large crane.
