As an important part of the national highway network Shaxi Bridge is a highway bridge in mountain area with a maximum176m span and a steel and concrete composite continuous rigid frame structure for main spans. The bridge is opened since May 20, 2022.

This 562m long 4-span haunched truss bridge has weathering steel trusses acting compositely with precast high strength concrete flange panels. The result is an elegant high-level expressway 130m above the Shaxi river. A neat integral connection to the pierheads avoids the need for bearings and the whole structure is designed for minimum long-term maintenance. Construction involved the innovative use of a cable crane to efficiently deliver prefabricated elements to the assembly of the girder at multiple fronts.
